Step 1 – Ensure that the File Extension is Correct

If you are trying to access the wrong file type, the QuickBooks crashing problem will arise. Make sure that the file extension of the company file you are trying to open, ends with QBW. Also, keep in mind that you cannot access QBM and QBB files using the QBW file extension.

Step 2 – Stop Hosting Multi-User Access

Disabling hosting on workstations can help you access the company file easily and rectify the QuickBooks keeps crashing issue.

  1. Open QuickBooks Desktop on your computer and go to the File menu.
  2. Select Utilities and find the Stop Hosting Multi-User Access option and select it to disable hosting mode.
  3. Repeat the above steps on all the workstations to disable hosting.

Step 3 – Change the Company File Location

For this, create a new folder on your Desktop. Open the File Explorer and locate the company file folder holding the QBW file. Select Copy and paste it into the newly created folder. Open the company file from the new location and see if you can access it.

Step 4 – Fixing the Issues with .ND and .TLG Files

Fix the .ND and .TLG files by renaming them. This will help in resolving the QuickBooks crashing problem.

  1. On the File Explorer, locate the .ND and .TLG files and right-click on them.
  2. Select Rename and add .OLD at the end of the file names,
  3. Save the changes and access the company file again.
