The EPF Nomination Rules are a collection of criteria and conditions that regulate the modification and incorporation of the nominee. These rules and situations will help you understand the situation’s foundations. The account holder can amend, update, and register the nomination at any time using the EPF Login account’s online functionality. However, in order to file EPF Nomination online there are some rules that you should always keep in mind. Some of those rules are as follows:
- For all EPF accounts, nominations are required. When nominations are registered, the EPFO can quickly and simply transfer funds to the nominee’s account if the account holder dies.
- The account holder can name one or more nominees for their EPF account when it comes to nominations.
- If there are numerous nominations, the account holder must decide how much of each nominee’s share will go to each nominee. After the percentage is determined, each nominee will get the amount in the proportion provided by the account holder. This payment will be given in the event of the account holder’s death.
- There is no limit to how many times you can change or alter your EPF account nomination.
- Adding your family members as nominees to your EPF account is usually a smart idea. The EPF account does not accept nominations from those who are not family members.
- You can name someone close to you as a nominee if you don’t have any relatives or family members. However, after you have a family member, you must change your nomination to the name of the family member.
- If you registered your nominations before getting married, you’ll need to edit or re-register them after the wedding. Any previously supplied nominations, such as those made before your marriage, will become void if you do not amend them. As a result, you must record new nominations for your EPF account once you are married.
- If you’ve designated a minor as the candidate for your EPF account, you’ll need to choose a guardian first. Please keep in mind that the chosen guardian should be a member of your family. If you don’t have a family member who can act as a guardian, the account holder can appoint someone from outside the family to act as a guardian.
- In the event of the EPF account holder’s death, the maturity amount available under the account will be paid to the specified nominee. The maturity amount will be paid in accordance with the EPF nominations’ stated proportion (if any).
- The maturity money will be shared evenly among family members if the account holder does not name a nominee. Please keep in mind that in such cases, the distribution of the collected funds would be subject to special laws and conditions. It is recommended that you register for an EPF nomination to avoid future issues.
Process to file PF E-Nomination Online
To file a PF E-Nomination Online, there is an eight step process that you need to follow. The process is listed below:
- Use your UAN and password to log in to the EPFO portal at unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in.
- From the ‘Manage’ menu, select the e-nomination option.
- The third step displays your UAN, name, date of birth, gender, and other personal information. ‘Current and permanent address’ should be filled in the blanks. You just need to save the document.
- Select ‘yes’ to modify the family declaration.
- Fill in the details for the members of your family you want to nominate under ‘add a family member(s)’. Name, date of birth, relation, and address of the nominee must all be given. You can add several nominations by clicking on ‘adding the row.’ In the case of a minor nominee, you must select a guardian.
- Under ‘nomination details,’ declare the precise amount of share among your nominees. If you just want to nominate one member of your family, you can receive 100 percent of the prize money.
- Select the ‘Save EPF nomination’ option to save your EPF nomination.
- Select the e-sign option to produce an OTP that will be sent to the connected cell phone number on the Aadhaar card. The Aadhaar’s e-sign feature facilitates the approval of the e-nomination form. Please enter your OTP.
However, it is important that when registering nominations under their EPF Passbook account, all EPF account holders must remember the nomination requirements.
