Techniques of an interior painting by yourself
The below-mentioned steps should help you to paint your home efficiently.
1. Clean the walls
The first step of interior house painting in Auckland is cleaning the walls of the room. Before applying paint to your walls first the walls of the room have to be cleaned. You can use a vacuum, or if you don’t have a vacuum towel can also be used to clean the walls. If any wallpaper adheres to your wall, remove it before cleaning. Application of anti-mold solution on the areas that have been affected by mold is required.
2. Removal of old paint
A paint scraper or sandpaper will do the work of removing flaking paint. This step is done to make the surface of the wall smooth and paint-ready. You can either use an electric sander or sandpaper can also be stapled to a sanding block.
3. Repair the areas that are damaged
Before priming your walls try to find out the flaws on your walls. Flaws like loose patches of plaster or cracks around the doors and windows are the common issues you might observe while inspecting the walls. After removing the old cracked plaster, prepare a fresh plaster and apply it in those areas. Filling the gaps around the doors and windows with a sealant would be a good idea.
4. Prime your wall
The next step would be priming your wall. Primer covers small imperfections but certain stubborn marks cannot be covered by primer and no matter how much coating you apply on your wall the marks will be visible. If you have such a stubborn stain on your wall, use a stain-blocking primer before coating your wall with paint.

6. Cover your furniture
To avoid paint drips on your furnishings don’t bother to move all the furniture out of the room, cover the furniture with plastic sheets instead. This will be much less tiring than moving the furniture
7. Roller Lap marks should be avoided
While using a roller to paint large walls, ensure overlapping the painted areas before they are dried, or else you might end up with lap marks.
8. Use cotton drop sheets
You can’t stop the paint dripping on your floor. Instead, put a cotton drop cloth on the floor. Cotton drop cloth won’t be slippery like plastic so avoid plastic in this stage.
9. Keep your colour consistent
The colour of one can vary from another can even be mixed by using the same colour formula at the same time. A wise thing to do is pour the same colour paint of every can into a five-gallon bucket and mix them thoroughly.
